Project Completion requires stage checklists

List with a completion tick

I found the most useful checklists in capital projects were those that defined in detail the key stages of project completion when responsibilities are usually passed from one party to another

For plants and factories this consisted of progressive activity checklists for:

  • Construction completion (project team takeover from a 3rd party)
  • Safe to take chemicals/raw materials (ready for commissioning)
  • Handover (transfer to plant management)
  • Plant Acceptance (plant has fully demonstrated intended operation)

For buildings and offices this consisted of progressive activity checklists for:

  • Practical completion (project team takeover from a 3rd party)
  • Safe for occupancy (full transfer to User)
  • Acceptance (end of retention period for the 3rd party works)

Hopefully these checklists flush out any incomplete activities or, with agreement, those that can be carried into the next stage

Please contact me if a list of typical activities for any of these checklists would be helpful
