Finding vendor standard equipment which meets the required duty and is safe for use is usually the ideal scenario for equipment purchasing (both technically and commercially)
Vendor standard equipment is always a useful start point for any technical evaluation (as they are experts and should comply with statutory requirements)
However I always recommended specifying minimum safety preferences particular to the Client’s facilities operation and maintenance (eg noise level, pressure relief checks, surface temperatures, manual handling, fire protection, documentation)
I was surprised how many times the vendor standard was not an exact fit to the safety requirements and required discussion
