My project management blog is 12 months old

It has been 12 months since I started this blog “project” and 6 months since my last blog progress review

How’s it going?

What has been achieved in the last 6 months?

  • An extra 11 posts published – total now 41 (to plan)
  • Majority of posts expanded to more than 100 words (to plan)
  • Privacy policy finalised
  • Basic understanding of visitor monitoring (using Clicky plugin)
  • Basic understanding of of web analytics (google search console 18 posts indexed, 23 not indexed)
  • Basic understanding of SEO (Yoast SEO for beginners online course completed and all posts improved)

What extra things have I learned in the last 6 months

  • I use wordpress.org (initial research led me to this). WordPress.com with a more standardised template may have been easier to use
  • Many similar subject blog sites do not have individual post commenting unless one registers with the site (not willing to do)
  • In 12 months, I have exhausted my initial list of ideas for posts. Blog progress has slowed down
  • Reinforced my initial thought that the blog is really just a learning activity and brain dump for me (little interest from ex-colleagues and Linkedin)

Plan for next 12 months?

  • Unless an idea is prompted by CPD, probably no new posts
  • Edit existing ones every now and again. Try adding meta descriptions
  • Pay fees for site name and host but not the image provider
  • Continue to monitor visitors (chargeable) and google indexing (free)
